Abstract
525,817. Biscuit &c. cutting and embossing machines. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and CROSLAND, E. M. Jan. 28, 1939, No. 2974. [Class 87 (ii)] In a biscuit cutting machine in which the dough sheet is supported and moves along a table 1 at right angles to a reciprocating cutter head carrying a number of cutting or embossing tools, the table is suspended from trunnions 2 by slings 3, 4 which are each mounted on a pair of concentric eccentric bushes 6, 7, carried in circular bearings in the headstock of the machine. The bushes are turned equally and oppositely, so as to displace the table in one direction only, by means of oppositely handed worms 10, 11, Fig. 4, engaging with segmental worm wheels 8, 9 which are integral with the bushes respectively. The four worms 10, 11 are geared to a shaft 12 which is rotated by a handwheel 13, thus adjusting the height of the table from both sides of the machine. One pair of worms may be geared to a sleeve 16 on the shaft which may be disconnected therefrom by withdrawing a spring key attached to a knob 15 and thus permitting the table to be adjusted from one side only. The sides of the cutter head may be guided in slots in the slings 3, 4. The trunnion ends may have spherical bearing surfaces within the slings to allow slight tilting of the table ; set screws at the corners of the latter give a similar adjustment.
