Abstract

981,027. Milling and grinding turbine-blades. NYDGVIST & HOLM A.B. Jan. 10, 1964, No. 1240/64. Headings B3B, B3D and B3K. A machine for machining turbine or propeller blades 7, 8 comprises a shaft supporting two blanks in balanced relationship and milling and grinding means 10, 10a, 31, 32 positioned so that one blank is milled while the other is ground, the milling means being moved in accordance with sensing means co-operating with a pair of master blades 19, 20 mounted on a second shaft. The blades are positioned as in a finished turbine. The blades can pass through a pit 9 in the floor. Two milling units driven by motors 10, 10a are carried on slides 11 each mounted on a slide 13. The slides 11, 13 are moved by hydraulic means, the positions being controlled by synchros 12, 15, the latter being associated with a rack 17. The master blades 19, 20 on an extension shaft 18 are engaged by feelers controlling the hydraulic movement of slides 23, 24, the movements being sensed by synchros 27, 28 and transmitted to the synchros 12, 15. A double tapered rubber roller 30 is held against the blade being milled to prevent deflections and vibration. The positions of the grinding means 31, 32 is controlled by compressed :air means. Devices 33, 34 are provided for setting the milling units and the copying feelers. The scale of reproduction can be adjusted.
