A copying machine comprises a manually-controlled linkage system 22, 24 for moving a tracer 15 and a tool 16 in three mutually perpendicular directions. The tool may be a milling-cutter rotated by an electric motor. Roller slides 14, 17, 21 are balanced by a spring and cam assembly and the linkage is balanced by a weight 28. Locking means for the slides are provided.
