Abstract

1379516 Milling machine details; beds and frames V H BALDING 18 Feb 1972 [19 Nov 1970] 55128/70 Headings B3K and B3B A milling machine comprises a tool spindle head 13, 14, Fig. 1 rotatably connected to an arm 11 slidably supported by a column 10, and an hydraulically actuated work support 12 vertically slidable on the column, the part 14 of the head being adapted to swivel about the longitudinal axis of the arm, and the part 13 being adapted to swivel on part 14. Arm 11 may be turned through a vertical axis. An attachment 17, Fig. 7, is provided and can be mounted on part 13 so that the tool spindle 18 of the attachment is driven by the spindle of part 13, through a belt and pulley, and gearing 19. The spindle 18 is carried in a quill 20 which is moved vertically by a rack and pinion 21. It is stated that a clutch and change speed can be provided.
