Abstract

1401650 Boring machine; beds and frames H WOHLENBERG KG 11 Oct 1972 [18 Feb 1972] 46872/72 Headings B3C and B3B A horizontal deep boring machine comprises two carriages 5, 5a, a boring bar guide 6, and a boring bar drive 13 removably attachable to either of the carriages, the attachments being adapted to be reversed through 180 degrees on the carriages whilst maintaining the position of the boring axis. The workpiece 9 and boring bar 8 may rotate in the same or opposite directions, the tool or the workpiece may be non-rotary, or when boring large workpieces the latter 9a, Fig. 2, is supported by an external adjustable worktable (12). Additional supports for workpieces 9, and for boring bar 8, may be provided. The workpiece can be rotated by a motor 10, and the boring bar 8 by a motor 14. The boring bar may be clamped in the workpiece head stock 4, and the tool guide 6, and the workpiece mounted on carriages 5, 5a respectively. It is preferred to have both carriages 5, 5b, of identical form.
