497,962. Lapping flat surfaces. HAHN, H., and SAUTER, H., (trading as HAHN & KOLB). July 1, 1937, No. 18287. Con. vention date, July 1, 1936. [Class 60] A machine for lapping flat surfaces on one face only of work-pieces h comprises a lapping- disc a mounted on a hub b carried by a hollow, rotating shaft c, within which is a rotating shaft d having thereon an adjustable eccentric pin f engaging a work-cage g provided with apertures to receive the work-pieces h. The pieces h are each pressed by a spring-pressed plate o the plates o being carried by a disc n rotatable on a bolt secured to a slide m adjustable transversely on a head k carried by a loaded shaft i coaxial with the shafts c, d ; the slide m may be secured by screws p. The disc n carries pins q which enter bushes r in the work-cage g, so that the disc n moves with the cage, but also may move axially relatively thereto. The cage may be constrained from rotating by a pin t, which engages, a slot s in the cage, or it may be allowed to rotate. The disc n may be supported only on the work-cage g, the shaft i not being employed.
