Abstract

424,173. Polishing-pads; grinding. ELEY, T. W., Wangye Works, High Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex. Sept. 13, 1934, No. 26287. [Classes 19 and 60] Polishing, buffing, and like apparatus in which a rotating disc 1, Fig. 4, of metal is employed as a mount for the pad, has the faces and edge of the disc covered with rubber 4 or composition to prevent risk of injury by flying pieces or contact with an operator. The disc 1 is of ordinary construction with holes 3 for securing the pad (not shown). The rubber is flat on the pad side and ribbed at 4a adjacent the edge to make it comparatively wide. The rubber may be secured between flanges 2a and a plate 5. In a modification, Fig. 5, the metal disc 1 is made up of three slotted plates superposed.
