Abstract

816,050. Rectilinear - motion bearings. BRUNT, C. H. April 23, 1957 [Jan. 25, 1956], No. 33792/55. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XXII] A rectilinear-motion bearing between a slide 11 and a channel-shaped support 10 comprises interengaging grooves and ribs 13, 15 on the relatively sliding surfaces, the grooves and ribs having been made by a rotary milling cutter or linearly acting broaches. On one side the support comprises an adjustable bar 16 having a grooved face and being located with respect to the adjacent vertical wall of the support 10 by set-screws 19 and secured in position by screws 17. The grooves and ribs are either of V-shaped cross-section, as shown, or of buttress-thread section.
