949,017. Bearings. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. July 19, 1962, No. 27780/62. Heading F2A. In a rectilinear-motion bearing, a four-sided rod 19 is longitudinally movable within a four-sided housing 42 having two adjustable pressure-pads 46 therein which co-operate with adjacent sides of the rod. In an embodiment, the rod 19 is a spindle of a spark erosion machine which runs on four sets of roller bearings 43 mounted in a cage 44, the movement of which is limited by screws 45 in the housing 42. Each adjusting-pad 46 is restrained from longitudinal movement by dowels 47 which are attached to the pad and which engage holes 48 in the housing 42, and is adjusted by a grub screw 49 backed by a locking grub-screw 50.
