Abstract
524,992. Thermionic valve circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and KEALL, O. E. Jan. 12, 1939, No. 1105. [Class 40 (v)] Voltage feed back is effected between a point P in a chain of electron discharge devices VI ... V3 and a preceding point by means of an electron discharge device CFV which is employed as a cathode follower with respect to, and has a cathode impedance CR common to the cathode impedance of, the device V1 at the point at which voltage feed back is to be effected, the voltage fed back being fed to the input electrode of the follower device CFV. The invention is shown as applied to an oscillator O with multistage amplifier. The impedance CR is preferably an ohmic impedance but may be a reactance. The cathode of the follower device CFV is connected to a point between a self-bias resistance unit BR1 and the impedance CR through a variable resistance VR shunted by a condenser C2, the degree of feed back being controlled by varying the resistance VR. Instead of employing a single device as the cathode follower, a number of devices in parallel, presenting high mutual conductance, may be used.
