Abstract

524,665. Pumps. BUCHI, A. Feb. 6, 1939, No. 3817. [Class 7 (ii)] A horizontal internal combustion engine is associated with an exhaust gas turbo-blower which supplies combustion air to it under pressure, the exhaust manifold of the engine and the turbo-blower being disposed beneath the floor level of the engine room. The engine comprises opposed multi-cylinders 5, 9, and the exhaust pipes 17 therefrom lead to exhaust manifolds 25, placed in pits below the floor level, these manifolds delivering the exhaust gases direct to turbo-blowers 13, also disposed below the floor level. The blowers 10 deliver air through pipes 26 which lead to the inlets of the engine. The exhaust gases after passing through the turbo-blowers are led away through pipes 28. The pits are provided with cover plates 32 which may be removed for inspection purposes.
