Abstract

524,622. Feeding sheets. BACKHOUSE, H. T. Jan. 3, 1939, No. 194. [Class 100 (i)] A conveyer for conveying sheets, preferably in overlapped form, fed from a high pile 14 to a printing or like machine arranged at a lower level comprises a series of rollers 6 driven at equal speed in the same direction and so arranged that the top end portion 1 is horizontal or has only a gentle slope, and from this the sheets are led to a part 2 which has a considerable slope which may be vertical. Curved parts 3, 4 of the conveyer convey the sheets without undue bending from the upper to the part of great slope and from thence to a lower roller portion 5 and a series of tapes 12 arranged to travel over a lay board 13 which may slope gently. The sheets are maintained positively in position against the part 2 of the conveyer by means of a series of rollers 9 with resilient treads. The sheets may be separated from the pile by separating devices as in Sipecification 427,041.
