Abstract
1,060,191. Delivering sheets. UNILEVER Ltd. Jan. 8, 1965 [Jan. 10, 1964], No. 913/65. Heading B6H. An uneven stack of sheets 8, Fig. 1 (not shown) is restacked evenly in a stack 9 by removing a small pile 25, Fig. 2, from the top of a pile 8, moving this pile horizontally by a tippable gripping device 11 while supported essentially only in the middle, e.g. by conveyers 13, and whilst it is being carried along is loosened by jets of air and is straightened before being piled on the stack 9. The pile 25 is separated from the stack 8 by blades 24, Fig. 3 (not shown), and the remaining pile held by a pneumatic clamp 26. The tippable gripping device draws the pile on to the conveyers 13 where the sheets hang down at either side. This separates the sheets a little to allow ingress of the air jets so the sheets float to a stop frame 16 where the sheets are aligned. The aligned sheets drop on to the stack 9 which is formed on a grid 6 supported by chains so it can be automatically lowered according to the sheets received or in accordance with the amount of upward travel of the uneven stack 8 similarly mounted on chains and grid. A sensing roller 18, Fig. 3 (not shown), controls an electric switch to operate the blades 24 and clamp 26.
