Abstract

524,184. Cleaning pipes. SANDIN, P. N. Jan. 24, 1939, No. 2424. [Class 99 (ii)] A pipe-cleaning tool comprises scrapers 29 pivotally mounted on a conical body 1 in such a way that when the tool is drawn in one direction by the member 11 they form a cylindrical body, and when the tool is drawn in the reverse direction by the member 25 they are swung out towards the pipe wall. The scrapers are mounted on angle levers 16, 17 connected by rods 19 and a disc 22 to the rod or wire 25. The movement of the scrapers is limited by the body 1 and a disc 6 on an extension 4<SP>1</SP> of the body. Ribs 14 on the body effect a preliminary loosening of the soil. In a modification the levers bear against a flange on a single rod connected to the actuating wire, and the body of the tool is formed as a casing for the moving parts and contains lubricant.
