[Class 99 (i)] A tube 1 is connected to a plate or another tube by a ferrule 4 which screws into the end of the tube and expands a ring 5 into contact with the sides of the opening 2a. The ring has an inclined slit 5b and the ring and tube have complementary conical surfaces. The ferrule may have a ring-engaging conical surface in addition to or instead of that of the tube.
