Abstract
522,159. Closures for collapsable tubes. LEVER BROS. & UNILEVER, Ltd., and EDWARDS, G. H. Dec. 2, 1938, No. 35122. [Class 125 (iii)] A collapsable tube 1 has an externally threaded nozzle 2 with its free end formed as a truncated cone 4; the detachable cap 6 has an internal thread 7 at the upper end' of which is an annular edge 11 formed by the intersection of two conical surfaces 9, 10. The cap is made of resin, preferably the condensation product known under the registered, Trade Mark "Bakelite," and when it is screwed on, an effective seal is formed By the contact between the edge 11 and the surface 4. The surface may be on the cap and the edge on the tube, or the surface may be formed on a non-metallic inset at the mouth of the tube. This inset prevents the extruded contents of the tube from touching the metal mouth as described in Specification 512,158.
