520,717. Antioxidants for fats, oils and soap. UNITED STATES RUBBER PRODUCTS, Inc. Dec. 8, 1938, No. 35785. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1937. [Class 91] [Also in Groups IV and V] Solid aliphatic ketone-diarylamine condensation products, prepared by reacting at least one mol. of an aliphatic ketone with one mol. of a diarylamine in the presence of an acidic condensation catalyst at a temperature between 110‹C. and 200‹C., preferably 140-160‹C. and under pressure greater than atmospheric, and subsequently purifying the crude products, are used as anti-oxidants for unsaturated fatty oils, such as unsaturated vegetable oils, essential oils, petroleum oils and their derivatives including cracked gasolines, and soaps. The proportion of antioxidant used is from 0.1 to 5 per cent. by weight.
