521,576. Antioxidants for oils and soaps. UNITED STATES RUBBER PRODUCTS, Inc. Dec. 8, 1938, No. 35786. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1937. Drawings to Specification. [Class 91] [Also in Groups IV and V] Aliphatic ketone-diarylamine condensation products, prepared by reacting a diarylamine in liquid form with an aliphatic ketone introduced in vapour form by pressure into the diarylamine at a temperature of 100‹ C.-200‹ C. are used as antioxidants for unsaturated vegetable or other fatty oils, essential oils, petroleum oils and their derivatives including cracked gasolines, and soaps. 0.1 per cent. to 5 per cent. by weight of antioxidant is suitable. Specified ketones employed are acetone, ethyl methyl ketone, diethylketonemesityl oxide, phorone, dipropyl ketone and dibutyl ketone. Specified diarylamines are diphenylamine, N, N<SP>1</SP>-diphenyl p-phenylene diamine, ditolylamine, dixylylamine, phenyl tolylamine, dinaphthylamine and phenyl α or #-naphthylamine.
