Abstract

To preserve the activity of the catalyst (particularly nickel) used in the hydrogenation of fatty acids, the acids are first purified by distillation, and after hydrogenation the product is distilled off from the catalyst in vacuo. The hydrogenation of soya bean oil fatty acid is described. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2520/07, 9112/08, and 3752/10, [all in Class 91, Oils &c.].
