Abstract

520,028. Two-part couplings. WARD & GOLDSTONE, Ltd., and YEARSLEY, E. Aug. 11, 1938, No. 23661. [Class.38 (i)] A resilient socket contact is made by cutting a part b from the body a of a turned metal socket, and surrounding the two parts by compression springs j and an inextensible ring k that co-operate with shoulders on the body a and part b to prevent relative axial movement of the two parts. As shown the springs j are located in grooves d, e of such a depth that the springs are always in engagement with the sides of the. grooves and project therefrom sufficiently to retain the ring k against axial displacement. In a modification, the ring k is divided into two, the compression spring being placed between them so that it need not be located in a groove, and a split ring in a groove at each end of the' socket retains the whole in position.
