Abstract
519,174. Aircraft gun mountings. AEROPLANI CAPRONI SOC. ANON. Sept. 13, 1938, No. 26738. Convention date, Sept. 13, 1937. Addition to 517,920 [Class 92 (i)] Relates to devices for counter-balancing the aerodynamic thrusts acting in all directions on a gun or guns displaceably mounted on aircraft as described and claimed in the parent Specification. According to the present invention, at least one cylindrical body 11a similar in shape to the gun or guns 1a, and subject to the thrust of the relative wind, is mounted on pivoted means mechanically connected with the pivotal mounting of the gun or guns so as to move in unison therewith. , In the ring mounting shown, the gun is elevated by an arm 8 which rocks a transverse shaft 7 mounted on the rotary ring 3 and connected by links 6, 5, 4 to the gun trunnion 26. The arm 8 carries hand gear 9 for rotating a pinion 15 gearing with a rack on the fixed ring. The body 11a is moved on a pivot 25 in unison with the gun by gearing'27, 28.
