Abstract
500,247. Resilient supports. VOIGT, C. A. June 10, 1938, No. 17243. Convention date, June 25, 1937. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Groups XIX and XXXIII] An elastic mounting for prime movers is provided with a measuring device which gives continuous indication of any changes in the position of the prime mover due to give in the elastic mountings. The invention is shown as applied. to the elastically mounted engines Of aircraft and the said movements are made to indicate engine torque and propeller thrust. In Fig. 5, the engine 1 is mounted by means of rubber springs 9, 10. In the neighbourhood of the mounting 10 is a casing 11 in which is mounted a shaft 12 which can move longitudinally and is connected to the carrier 3 by shaft 13 and cardan joints 14, 14<1>. A gear wheel 15 slidable on but not rotatable on the shaft 12 gears with a pinion 17 on a lay shaft 16. The movement of the shaft 12 is transmitted by a cord 18 to an instrument 19 indicating propeller thrust. Rocking of the shaft 12 about its axis is transmitted by a flexible shaft 20 to an instrument 21 indicating torque.
