[Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] The field winding of a tuning motor or of an electro-magnet used for tuning or to control the display of a tuning indicator is used also as a smoothing choke in the power supply either with or without switching. The Figure shows an arrangement in which the field winding 17 of a tuning motor having a double armature 18, -19 is used for smoothing during normal receiver operation. Solenoids used to operate wave-change switches or to tilt an obscuring. cover over the tuning scale as described in Specification 516, 385 may also be used for smoothing. The switching may be effected by switches mechanically linked with the push buttons or by relays associated therewith or by other automatic tuning control mechanisms. The Provisional Specification also describes the use of impedances used for automatic tuning as bias resistors, components in audio amplifying or correcting circuits or as inverse feedback impedances.
