Abstract
953,802. Radio receiver tuning arrangements. PYE Ltd. Oct. 7, 1960 [Oct. 7, 1959], No. 33997/59. Heading H3Q. In a television receiver tuner arrangement, wherein each of a plurality of separate tuners includes an amplifier and tuned circuit, switch means are provided for rendering any one of the tuners operative at any one time. Two separate tuners 1, 2 tuned for frequencies in Bands I, III, respectively, and each comprising a cascode amplifier stage and a mixer stage including a local oscillator, have their mixer anode circuits connected together and to the primary of a common I.F. transformer 5, the secondary of which feeds the I.F. amplifier stages of the receiver. A changeover switch 6 supplies H.T. to the cascode amplifiers and oscillators of the tuners so that only one tuner is energized at any time to feed the remainder of the receiver. Resistors 7, connected across the switch contacts, allow a small current to be passed to that tuner which is not energized through switch 6 so that the valves are energized at all times. The changeover switch may be a relay which is operated by means of a low voltage and controlled by a single-pole switch at a remote position.
