Abstract
518,585. Removing fumes. HUSLER, N. W. Aug. 27, 1938, No. 25215. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] Means for extracting steam and fumes from the cooking chamber of a fishfrying range or from a similar enclosed space by means of a fan comprises a fan motor located in a casing disposed within the exhaust conduit from the cooking-chamber &c. and sealed in relation thereto, and one or more ventilation openings in the casing to permit a flow of cooling air therethrough. A box or chamber 4 adapted to be interposed in an exhaust conduit from the back of a frying range &c. is divided into three compartments 5, 6, 7 by vertical partitions, the chambers 5, 7 forming exhaust passages of a cross-sectional area at least equal to that of the pipe 2 from the range &c. The central compartment 6 is closed by lower and upper walls 8, 10 and is fitted with metal straps 11 to support the motor 12, which is cooled by air flowing through the compartment 6 through front and rear openings. The extractor fan 14 is located in a cone-shaped extension 15 provided with a sliding, hinged or detachable door.
