Abstract

1,225,328. Air extractor/separator for kitchens. COCKLE VENTILATOR CO. Inc. 16 May, 1969, No. 25146/69. Heading BIT. [Also in Divisions F3 and F4] An air extractor hood mounted above and behind a domestic cooker (Fig. 1, not shown) comprises a horizontally elongated inlet 30 and baffles 31, 32, 33, 35, 36 which impose three successive reversals in the direction of flow of air drawn through the hood casing by extractor fan 19, entrained oil and grease depositing on the baffles and walls of the casing and running through apertures 40 and outlet 42. Spray nozzles 51, 52, 53 supplied by a common conduit 50 are arranged to deliver cleaning solution or fire-extinguishing gas or liquid to different parts of the casing. Door 21 may be held open by a wire released to close the door when a fusible link is melted by a fire. The baffles are stated to prevent fire penetrating as far as the outlet duct 20. Fig. 1 illustrates the whole hood mounted above the cooker, but alternatively the rear portion 14, 17b, 18b could extend down to the flow behind the cooker. Front panel 17a is removable for inspection.
