Abstract

517,549. Hammocks. FUNARO, C. July 29, 1938, No. 22664. [Class 52 (ii)] Hammocks or berths. are suspended in. tents, huts, &c. by flexible suspension .means which, under load, form parabolic lines or curves. An arrangement is shown in which three hammocks, 5, 6, 7 formed from a continuous strip and an upper hammock 8 are suspended from a tent frame comprising members 2, 3, 4 and cables 19 . . . . 26 connected as shown. The side edges of the hammocks are provided with: fabricstrips 39;, 40 having curvedchannels 41, 42 through, which ropes - pass the ends of; the ropes together with intermediate portions being attached at 44, 45 to the said cables;. In: addition, the end hammocks have similar strips 46 with tubular channels through which pass ropes 47 attached at 48; In the case of separate ham- 'mocks the edges of the hammocks are provided with strips 14, 15 having curved channels 16 through which pass ropes 17 having attaching means such as 18 which in the tent frame are. attached to the cables as shown in Fig. 4. The upper. hammock 8 is afterwards attached by the hooks 18.
