Abstract
1,198,451. Suspended ceilings. THERMAL & ACOUSTIC INSTALLATIONS Ltd. 14 Feb., 1968 [14 Feb., 1967], No. 7066/67. Heading E1W. A ceiling is suspended from main lattice beams 10, 11, the suspension means including inverted V-shaped stays 13 the apices of which are secured to the upper part of the lattice beams and the free ends of which are connected to the ceiling framework at points intermediate adjacent lattice beams. The apices of the stays are disclosed as connected to the upper parts of inverted V-shaped lattice bars 11 by clips 14, 15, Fig. 3. In a construction in which the ceiling framework comprises inverted T-section runners 12 and transverse noggings 12a the runners 12 are additionally suspended by bolts 17 attached to the lower booms of the lattice beams and to splicing plates 20 connecting meeting ends of the runners 12 disposed beneath the lattice beams. In a modification hook bolts 17b, Fig. 5 (not shown) directly engage the vertical flanges of runners which extend in one continuous length beneath the beams. In Figs. 7-10 (not shown) the runners are of upright T-sectioned clip formation to engage the flanges of traytype panels.
