Abstract

1352697 Elevated walkways and platforms COLT INTERNATIONAL Ltd 19 April 1971 [19 March 1970] 13440/70 Heading E1S An elevated walkway comprises a plurality of platforms arranged end to end, each of which has a hook assembly 15 at each end hooked over a respective support bar 30, the support bars having attachments for suspending from an overhead structure, e.g. a roof, and the hook assemblies 15 on each pair of adjacent ends of adjacent platforms having hooks or claws 20 which interfit and hook over a single support bar 30. The platform may comprise wooden planks 13 on a wooden frame 11, 12, and each hook assembly comprises a channel-section metal plate 16 which is clamped around the end of the platform by bolts, (24, Fig. 3, not shown), with a small extent of telescopic adjustment. The hooks 20 are so disposed that the platforms are reversible end-to-end with the sides thereof still in alignment. Each hook assembly 15 has pivoted gravity latches (40, Fig. 8, not shown) to retain the bar 30. The suspension attachments for the bar 30 comprise tubes 30a welded to its ends, each tube receiving the screw-threaded lower end 31b of a vertical tie 31 and being secured in position thereon by adjusting nuts 31e.
