Abstract

1352696 Platform for scaffolding &c COLT INTERNATIONAL Ltd 19 April 1971 [19 March 1970] 13439/70 Heading E1S A platform for use in scaffolding, elevated walkways, &c, comprises decking 10 extending over a supporting framework composed of metal channel-section side frame members 11 and transverse metal stiffening members 12 supported therebetween, the ends of the transverse members 12 being received in mouths defined between inwardly joggled edges 11b of the flanges 11a of the side members 11. The transverse members 12 are preferably also channel-sectioned, and the decking 10 may be of expanded metal sheet, as shown, or wooden planks. A hand-rail standard 25 is shown mounted on the platform edge by means of clamp members 20, 21 engaged by the standard and gripping the joggle shoulders 11c of the side frame member 11. The ends of the platform are provided with telescopically adjustable claw assemblies constructed so that adjacent platforms may be connected by their claws engaging over a supporting bar. The platform may carry a longitudinal bar for hooking thereon the end claw of an adjacent platform at right angles. The platform may be mounted on ground-engaging pillars.
