Abstract

516,912. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. July 29, 1938, No. 22656. Convention date, Aug. 17, 1937. [Class 29] Absorption systems.-In continuous-cycle inert gas systems in which the liquor is circulated by gas-bubble "pumps," rectification of the vapour expelled from the generator 13 is effected by indirect heat exchange with weak and strong liquor in a heat exchanger 24 at or below the absorber level, preferably after contact of the vapour with strong liquor. In the system shown in Fig. 3 with a generator of the horizontal type with a stand pipe, the generated vapour after lifting liquid in a conduit 28 passes by a pipe 18 to a vessel 19, where it bubbles through strong liquor received from a liquor reservoir 22 below the finned coil absorber 11 and then passes through the centre conduit of an inclined triple tube exchanger and on to the condenser by a pipe 25. Condensate of solution vapour drains through a pipe 33 to the vessel 19. A similar arrangement is described for a vertical type of generator. Another arrangement comprises a double helix heat exchanger 24, Fig. 5, with a drain 33 for condensate from the middle part of the coils, which in effect form a U-tube for liquor, and if desired also with a drain 43 from the warmer part of the exchanger.
