Abstract
235,192. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. June 3, 1924, [Convention date]. Refrigerating, absorption machines for. - In generating water vapour used as the refrigerant from a mixture of water with sulphuric acid used as the absorbent in continuous-cycle systems, the acid is caused to flow upwards through a heated tube with enlargements or loops in which steam collects to ensure uniform boiling. Water vapour withdrawn from an evaporator 31, Fig. 3, in which cold is produced is absorbed by sulphuric acid flowing down a tube 33 with cooling ribs 44. The sulphuric acid is concentrated by passage upwards through a helical pipe 37 inclined so that each turn has an upward and also a downward portion and heated by an electric heater 38. The vapours separated in a chamber 39 pass to a condenser 42 from which condensate is returned by a pipe 43 to the evaporator 31. Concentrated acid passes from the chamber 39 through pipes 40, 34 back to the absorber 33.
