Abstract

301,837. Kemmer, H. Dec. 6, 1927, [Convention date]. Refrigerating, absorption machines and processes for.-The waste heat from gasworks, cokeries, &c. is utilized to heat the generator of an absorption refrigerating machine, and the cold produced is applied either to the manufacture of ice or to separate, by cooling, the tar &c. in the gas. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a gas-plant in which the waste gas passes from the plant a through the flue e to the generator g, the evaporated ammonia vapour passing in turn through a rectifier, a heat-exchanger k, and a condenser l to a cooler 1 through which circulates the brine from the ice-making machine 7 and the gas cooler 8. The liquefied ammonia flows from the cooler 1 to the evaporator 2 and the evaporated ammonia passes through the heat-exchanger 3, through which weak liquor flows, to the reabsorber 4 from which the strong liquor passes to the heat-exchanger 5 and thence to the cold generator 6. The brine circulates through the evaporator 2, ice-making machine 7, and gas cooler 8 to the cooler 1 and thence to the cold generator 6 and back to evaporator 2. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
