Abstract

204,063. Ketterer, E. Sept. 16, 1922, [Convention date]. Plants, treatment of growing.-In the separation of carbon dioxide from gases containing it by absorbing it in a liquid and subsequently freeing it by means of heat, carbon dioxide substantially free from steam and sufficiently pure for use in a green-house is produced by employing the same current of air for condensing the steam and for conveying the carbon dioxide through the apparatus. In the apparatus shown in the Figure, heat from a furnace 1, which is also the source of the carbon dioxide, is used to drive off the latter from the saturated liquor collected in the boiler 8 from the packed absorption chamber 2. The mixture of carbon dioxide and steam passing through the condenser 10 is cooled by the same current of air employed to entrain the substantially dry carbon dioxide leaving the pipe 14. Condensed steam is returned to the boiler 8.
