[Class 29.] Absorption systems.-Liquid refrigerant not evaporated in the evaporator of a continuous cycle system is conveyed directly to the generator 10 by a conduit 22 in such a manner as to rectify the vapour leaving the boiler. The refrigerant may be admitted to the liquid space of the boiler in its upper part, the gas generated in the lower part being rectified by passage through the cold layer thus formed. Alternatively, the refrigerant may be admitted to the gas space and allowed to flow downwards over baffles between which the rising gas passes. The auxiliary inert gas flowing from the absorber 15 through conduits 17 and 18 to the evaporator may be cooled in a heat-exchanger 13 by the refrigerant returning direct to the boiler. Part of the conduit 22 is in heat-conducting relation with the boiler wall.
