Abstract

272,503. Electrolux, Ltd., (Assignees of Platen-Munters Refrigerating System Aktiebolag). June 9, 1926, [Convention date]. Refrigerating, absorption processes for.-In continuous-cycle systems containing an inert auxiliary medium, refrigerent not vaporized in the main evaporator is evaporated in a vessel or jacket to cool parts of the apparatus itself or media therein. The apparatus shown comprises an evaporator G, absorber A, generator K, rectifier V, condenser C, liquor pipes 11, 12 and heated riser pipe P. The mixture of inert gas, refrigerant vapour and liquid refrigerant passes from the main evaporator G, Fig. 1, through a vessel H having external gills 13 and the further evaporation therein serves to cool the separated inert gas flowing from the absorber by a pipe 16 and around the vessel H back to the evaporator. In another arrangement, the vessel H may be arranged on the upper part of the absorber and around the return pipe for inert gas. Some of the liquid refrigerant from the condenser mav be led into the vessel H. In a further arrangement, shown in Fig. 3, the inert gas and refrigerant vapour flow from the evaporator and through a pipe 34 and a heat interchanger S before entering the absorber A, and the supplementary evaporator H, which is constituted by a sleeve having a spiral internal baffle fitting around the inert gas return pipe 30, is supplied from a branch pipe 31 in front of the interchanger S.
