Abstract
516,270. Fastenings. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and TROTTER, J. C. July 23, 1938, No. 21925. [Class 44] [Alsa in Group XXXIII] Locking pins whereby two parts, e.g., folding wings of aircraft, may be secured in predetermined relationship are arranged to move in opposite directions and are connected. by links with an operating lever pivoted on a floating fulcrum so that one pin can be inserted before the other. As shown, the pins k are slidable in a tube m and are pivoted to links r connected to the aircraft through links s. A T-shaped lever p is pivoted at u to a link v pivoted on the aircraft. The lever is connected by links t to the links r. The pins are adapted to be inserted through registering apertures in lugs carried by the stub and folding wing portions. The mechanism may be mounted on either the stub or folding portion and the lever p moves in the space between the two portions. The lever p may have a portion foldable into a recess in the stub portion of the wing. The fulcrum u of the lever, may slide in a guideway or guideways the link v being omitted.
