Abstract

515,547. Rotary pumps. SMITH, D. D., FENTON-. June 3, 1938, No. 16752. [Class 110 (ii)] In a rotary pump of the type in which vanes centrally mounted in a circular casing have a sliding-rocking engagement with an eccentrically mounted rotor, the fixed shaft, upon which the vanes are mounted, is cranked at one or both ends and the offset portion or portions are fixed in the end plates. In the illustration the vanes 17 are shown in radial cross-section and the rotor is represented by its two trunnion portions 9, 8 which are mounted in bearings in the end plate 4 and an intermediate plate 2. The offset portion 22 of the fixed shaft 20 is secured in a boss 23 on the end-plate 3. Integral with the trunnion 8 is a toothed wheel 10 which gears with a wheel 14 on the driving shaft 13.
