Abstract
515,478. Oven stoves. SMITH, J. L. May 28, 1938, No. 15966. [Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] An oven heated by gaseous or liquid fuel, electricity, steam, or hot water, is provided with a storage space 14, defined in the form shown by partitions 9, 9a, through which space air is blown by a fan 8, the air, when and after leaving the space 14 and before returning to the fan, flowing over a heating member in the oven. In the form shown, this heating member comprises finned or deeply corrugated walls 3, 5a which also bound flues 2, 5 for hot gases from a burner 4. The flue 5 ends in a chimney outlet 6 and an opening leading to the air-circulating space outside the partitions 9, 9a. This air-circulating space also has an outlet passage 11. A damper 7 can be operated to allow hot gases to enter the air-circulating space and at the same time to close partially or completely the flue 6, and is linked to a damper 12 in the flue 11, so that as one flue is closed the other is opened. The flue for the hot gases may be arranged within the air-circulating space above the partition 9, so that the air passes all around it.
