Abstract
515,219. Suspensory bandages. ELSTON, F. W. May 25, 1938, Nos. 15625 and 15626. [Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Group VII] . Bathing trunks and like articles of wear having a central front or fly opening 11 adapted to be closed by a fastener 12 are provided with a fabric panel 15, forming a body supporter or suspensory bandage, located at the front interior immediately behind the fly opening and extending downwards from a position adjacent to the waist line, whereat it is secured to the garment at each side of the fly opening as at 16-161, the upper part of the panel being capable of lateral extension. In a particular construction, a portion of the upper part of the supporter embodies a V-shaped elastic insert 18. The lower end of the supporter may be attached near the crutch 17, or may extend partly up the back and have straps attachable to the waist back, whereby the length of the supporter may be adjusted. The garment is suspended at the waist by suitable means. Thus -a band of elastic material 23 may extend round the back from hip to hip and be anchored at its ends, and elastic bands 26, 261 may extend forward from each hip being attached thereat to the former band and to the garment, means being provided for connecting their free ends together, for example a buckle 27. The garment may be provided with one or more pockets.
