[Class 41] A tarnish-resistant surface is formed on silver, silver alloys or silver-coated surfaces by depositing thereon a film of oxide or hydroxide of aluminium or beryllium by electrolytic treatment with the silver &c. as cathode in a solution of sulphate or nitrate of aluminium or beryllium. The alloy may contain aluminium, beryllium, copper, zinc, cadmium or tin.
