Abstract

514,054. Insulators. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., and GOODALL, J. M. April 20, 1938, No. 11858. [Class 36] An insulator for insulating the ends of conductors passing through the metal casing of metal-clad switchgear comprises a unitary body 1 of insulating material, having cylindrical passages 2 arranged side by side therein, each passage being divided into two compartments by a transverse partition 3 having an aperture 4 in which the end of one conductor can be secured, e.g., by nuts arranged on either side of the partition. The insulator is secured to the casing, with the conductors extending upwardly into the apertures, by an attachment flange 5. Orifices 7, through which connections to the conductors held in the apertures may be taken, may be provided in the side-walls of the insulator adjacent the partitions.
