Abstract

424,215. Switchboards. SHAW, W. G. W., 15, Park Lane, Liverpool. Aug. 30, 1933, No. 24020. [Class 38 (v)] [See also Group XXXVI] The busbars of a switchboard are constituted by tubes of the same external diameter, but with a thickness of wall which is suited to the current they have to carry. The connections to the cables are effected by means of connectors having two-part sockets of a bore corresponding with the standard external diameter of the busbars and of a width appropriate to the.rating of the cable which is attached to a special terminal connection on the connector. The busbars A are supported from bars B of flat iron, angle, or channel section, by means of split porcelain sockets C with mica bushings, if desired, the sockets being held by bars B<1> and studs D which are tapped to receive screws d<1>. Rubber insertions E may also be provided. The bars B are attached to the inside of the back of a sheet steel switchboard casing provided with sheet steel doors. The cables may pass out into trunking of the character described in Specification 424,842, [Group XXXVI].
