Abstract

525,460. Binding-posts ; distribution boards. V.G. MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., GELDEREN, F. M. VAN. Feb. 21, 1939, Nos. 5807 and 7436. [Class 38 (i)] A connection for joining electric conductors comprises a screwed socket member 5 slotted or apertured at 7, 8 to receive the wire ends 14 and co-operating with a screw 11 to clamp the wires, the base 10 of the socket being concave and the end 12 of the screw convex so that the wires are tightly held. The curvature,of the base 10 and end 12 are different so that the space between them is not uniform and wires of different gauge can be clamped together. The connector may be set in an insulating block 1 having inlets 2, 3 that may be flared to accommodate the insulation on the wires. A number of connectors may be moulded into a single block of insulation as shown in Fig. 16, the block being grooved at 16 between the connectors which are thus united only by webs 15 that can be broken by using a screwdriver &c. to divide the block into single or two or more way connectors. The metal socket may be dispensed with, the screwed socket being formed in the insulating block or a screwed bush being moulded therein. Grub screws may be employed in these connectors.
