[Class 38 (ii)] Current of reduced frequency for operating an electromagnetic hammer is obtained from an A C. supply by means of cam operated contacts 5, 8, Fig. 2, driven by a synchronous motor 1, these contacts being in series in the circuit supplying the hammer and opening for a period of one or more cycles. The contacts are mounted on bowed springs 6, 10 and are operated from a cam 2 through a frictionless drive 3.
