Abstract
512,265. Rotary regenerators. LINDEROTH, E. T. May 5, 1938, No. 13452. Convention date, May 12, 1937. [Class 64 (i)] In a rotary heat exchange apparatus of the kind described in Specification 493,613, short and narrow passages for the flow of air or gas are provided having a hydraulic radius which does not exceed 1 mm. and of such length in the direction of flow of the air or gas as not to exceed 50 times the hydraulic radius. The exchanger is made of perforated wire cloth or perforated sheet metal as shown in Figs. 3, 5 and 7. The edges of the perforations may be bent as shown in Fig. 10. The sheet metal material may be formed by cutting or punching the plates to provide bent cut portions in the .form of fan blades as shown in Figs. 12 and 14. Alternatively the exchanger may be constructed of thin laminae or sheet metal strips arranged parallel and connected to similar transverse elements.
