[Class 64 (iii)] A plate 1 for a plate heat exchanger made of pressed sheet and having one or more packing grooves 5, 9 near the edge has a pressed or folded portion 11 outside the grooves acting as a reinforcement and extending past the plane of the adjacent plate. The folded portion forms an angle of less than 90 degrees with the plane of the plate and has a narrow outer edge 12 parallel with the plate.
