Abstract

Respiratory appliances.-An air-purifying cartridge a for a regenerative breathi n g apparatus is built up of guideplates b of corrugated or zig-zag section, the upper surfaces d of the plates being filled with a purifying-material, such as caustic soda, kept in place by a sheet of wire gauze c. Communication between successive layers is established by cutting segments from each plate to expose all the grooves, the cut edge having a ridge b<1> to retain the material used. The plates are threaded on a strip f to ensure that the air passages shall lie in the same direction, and are arranged with the cut segments alternately opposite. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), describes another form, as in Fig. 6 (Cancelled), in which the plates b are used alternately with layers of purifying material held between gauze sheets h, c so arranged that the segmental passages of all the plates are on one side while the layers of material present passages on the other side. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
