Abstract

511,794. Fluid - pressure servomotor - control systems. RUBBRA, A. A. Feb. 23, 1938, No. 5775 [Class 135] [Also in Groups XXVII and XXIV] A linkage mechanism suitable for controlling the throttles of aircraft engines, comprises an arm arranged to have an angular movement of about 180 degrees, a link pivotally connected to the arm so as to be moved thereby with a dwell at each end of its travel, and a lever or other member arranged to drive the arm through a gear. The Figure shows the invention applied to the thottle 10 of an aircraft engine, in which an automatic boost control 11 has its datum varied by a cam 32 actuated by the pilot through a lever 19 and linkage 29, 30, 31, the lever 19 being connected through multiplying gear 21, 22 to an arm 24 connected by a link 25 to the throttle - operating mechanism. The lever 19 moves through about 100 degrees while the arm 24 moves through 200 degrees, and the arm 24 is so arranged that, at the end of its movement, it occupies a dead-centre position with regard to the link 25, and the movement of the throttle is consequently small. The servomotor piston 16 of the boost control is connected by linkage 33, 34, 36 to a three-armed lever 27, which has one arm connected to the link 25, and another arm connected to a lever 28 actuating the throttle.
