Abstract

501,622. Regulating. EXACTOR CONTROL CO., Ltd., and DWERRYHOUSE, P. J. Nov. 23, 1937, No. 32246. [Class 7 (vi)] [Also in Group XXIV] In an arrangement of engine throttle and mixture control levers, the mixture control lever. is urged by a spring to the " rich " position; but is retained by a detent in the " weak " position after it has been moved' there by the pilot, this detent being interconnected with the throttle lever so as to be operative only when the throttle lever is within a certain range of movement, and to be released whenever the throttle lever is moved beyond that range. The Figure shows the throttle control lever T and the mixture control-lever M mounted side-by-side on the same pivot 1, the lever T carrying a roller 10 engaging a cam lever 4 pivoted at 3 and pressed upwards by a spring 6, so that a detent on the cam lever engages a projection 9 on the lever M. When the lever T is in the cruising position C<1>-C<2>, the roller 10 rides in a recess 7 in the cam lever 4 and the lever M is held by the catch 8, 9 in the " weak " position shown ; but if the lever T is moved to the closed position A or full-open position B, the roller 10 depresses the cam lever 4 so as to disengage the catch 8, 9 and allow the lever M to be moved by a spring to the " rich " position D. In a modification, a pair of throttle levers are shown in connection with a single mixture lever. The controls may be of the hydraulic type described in Specification 419,310, [Group XXIX].
